Founding lawyer of MARCHAIS & Associés in 2001, Guillaume Marchais specializes in intellectual property law and vine and wine law.

He advises and defends a very varied clientele, with a very strong predominance in wine throughout France and its terroirs, on strategies for the legal protection of trademarks, designs & models, copyright, internet domain names and on strategies for defending these rights in court.

Thus, Guillaume Marchais conducts all availability research before trademark registrations, all audits and due diligence of trademarks in the context of transactions, registers and manages with his team the trademark portfolios of his clients throughout the world, but also ensures their defense before the courts: actions for counterfeiting, unfair and/or parasitic competition, deceptive commercial practices, disputes relating to the Evin Law, labeling, conflicts between brands and designations of origin, recovery of internet domain names fraudulently reserved.

He is a graduate of WSET 2 and the EVS level 2 diploma from the Ecole du Vin et des Spiritueux and teaches the law of wine brands and geographical indications at the University of Burgundy and in the Master 2 of vine and wine law from the University of Bordeaux.
